School Overview
Gateway to College, located on the campus of Highline College in the Federal Way area, is an innovative educational program designed for students who have either dropped out of high school or are significantly behind in credits and at risk of not graduating. Instead of a traditional high school setting, the program allows students to complete their high school diploma requirements while simultaneously earning college credits. By immersing students in a supportive college environment, the program aims to re-engage them in their education and provide a smoother transition into post-secondary studies or the workforce.
The program is uniquely structured to provide intensive academic and personal support, which is critical for students who may have struggled in conventional school settings. Students work closely with college transition coaches and instructors who focus on personalized learning plans, helping them manage the balance between their high school coursework and college-level classes. By removing traditional barriers and offering a more flexible, adult-oriented learning atmosphere, Gateway to College empowers students to regain their academic footing, build confidence, and pursue a path toward long-term educational and career success.
