Originally commissioned in the 1890s as a grand hotel, the building was transformed into a high school in 1906. Its iconic, castle-like structure—characterized by its towering turrets and sweeping view of Commencement Bay—has served as a landmark for over a century and was famously featured in the 1999 film *10 Things I Hate About You*.
