SUPERIOR JUAN SERRALES

SUPERIOR JUAN SERRALES is a Title I public high school that is part of the PUERTO RICO DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION school district, located in PONCE, PR with about 384 students offering grade levels from 10th Grade to 12th Grade. A Title I school provides supplemental financial assistance to school districts for children from low-income families. Its purpose is to provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education. With about 24 teachers, SUPERIOR JUAN SERRALES has a student/teacher ratio of about 16:1. The national average for public schools is about 15:1. A lower student/teacher ratio is a key factor that determines how much a teacher can devote his/her time to each individual student thus improving, or reducing (in the event of a higher student/teacher ratio) the attention each student is given for their educational needs.

Superior Juan Serrallés is a public high school located in the Coto Laurel sector of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Situated along Highway 14, the school serves the local community by providing secondary education that prepares students for university studies and vocational pursuits. As a cornerstone institution in the region, it plays an active role in the academic and social development of youth in the Ponce area.

The school is named in honor of the Serrallés family, a prominent name in Ponce’s history, best known for their significant contributions to the local economy and culture, most notably through the production of Don Q rum.
