School Overview
Maryhurst, located on Dorsey Lane in Louisville, is one of Kentucky’s oldest and most well-regarded social service organizations. While it began over 180 years ago as an orphanage, it has evolved into a comprehensive treatment center dedicated to helping children, teenagers, and families recover from the trauma of abuse, neglect, and severe emotional challenges. The organization operates a specialized residential treatment program, as well as community-based services, designed to provide a safe, therapeutic environment where youth can work toward healing and stability.
Education and clinical intervention are at the core of the Maryhurst model. The campus provides a structured setting where professional staff—including therapists, case managers, and educators—work collaboratively to address the unique needs of each individual. By focusing on evidence-based trauma care and life-skills development, Maryhurst aims to break cycles of abuse and empower young people to transition back into their families or independent living situations with the tools necessary for long-term success.
