ACADEMY OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
The Academy of Engineering and Technology (AET), located in Leesburg, Virginia, is a specialized magnet program operated by Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS). Designed for students with a strong aptitude and interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), the academy provides a rigorous, project-based curriculum that moves beyond traditional high school instruction. By fostering a collaborative environment, the AET prepares students for the complexities of modern engineering and technology fields through hands-on learning, research-based projects, and partnerships with local industry leaders.
The program emphasizes innovation and critical thinking, offering specialized pathways such as engineering, computer science, and information technology. Because the academy serves as an extension of the students’ base high schools, it encourages a diverse community of learners to tackle real-world problems through interdisciplinary study. Ultimately, the Academy of Engineering and Technology aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and professional application, equipping graduates with the technical skills and creative mindset necessary to excel in competitive collegiate programs and high-demand careers.
