ALLEN CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL
Allen Central High School is a public school that is part of the Floyd County school district, located in Eastern, KY.
Allen Central High School was located in Eastern, Kentucky, serving the Floyd County community. Established in the mid-1970s following the consolidation of several smaller area schools—most notably Garrett and Maytown—it functioned as a central educational hub for students in the region. Throughout its existence, the school was well-known for its strong sense of community pride and its spirited participation in regional athletics and extracurricular activities, which served as a focal point for local social life.
In 2017, Allen Central High School closed its doors as part of a major district consolidation initiative. Its student body was merged with those of South Floyd High School to form the newly established Floyd Central High School. Today, the former Allen Central campus stands as a significant piece of local history, representing the evolution of the educational landscape in Eastern Kentucky and the consolidation of rural school districts to provide updated facilities and expanded academic opportunities for students.
