Southwest Virginia Governor's School

The Southwest Virginia Governor's School (SWVGS) is a specialized, regional public high school program designed to provide advanced academic opportunities for high-achieving students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Serving students from multiple school districts across Southwest Virginia, the school operates as a "half-day" program. Students typically spend their mornings or afternoons at the Governor’s School engaging in rigorous, college-level coursework, while spending the remainder of their day at their home high schools to fulfill core requirements and participate in extracurricular activities.
