Central Virginia Governor's School

The Central Virginia Governor’s School for Science and Technology (CVGS) is a specialized regional magnet program located in Lynchburg, Virginia, designed to serve gifted and talented high school students from several surrounding school districts. Rather than functioning as a traditional standalone high school, CVGS operates as a "school-within-a-school" model. Students typically spend half of their day at their home high schools participating in extracurriculars and core requirements, while spending the other half immersed in an advanced, rigorous curriculum at the CVGS facility.

The program’s core mission is to foster advanced inquiry in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields through a blend of college-level coursework and hands-on research.
