School Overview
Open Doors Puyallup is an alternative educational program specifically designed to re-engage students who have dropped out of high school or are significantly behind in credits. Operated within the Puyallup School District, the program provides a flexible, individualized pathway for students between the ages of 16 and 21 to earn their high school diploma or a GED. By removing the traditional barriers of a standard comprehensive high school, the program aims to provide a supportive environment that prioritizes student progress and personal success.
The curriculum and scheduling at Open Doors are highly personalized, allowing students to work at their own pace in a smaller, more focused setting. Because the program recognizes that students often face outside responsibilities—such as work or family obligations—it offers non-traditional hours and academic structures that make finishing their education more attainable. Ultimately, the goal of the school is to provide a "second chance" for youth to gain the credentials and skills necessary to transition successfully into post-secondary education, vocational training, or the workforce.
