HARLANDALE ISD STEM ECHS-ALAMO COLLEGES AT PAC

Harlandale ISD STEM Early College High School (ECHS), located on the campus of Palo Alto College (PAC), is a specialized academic program designed to bridge the gap between high school and higher education. As an Early College High School, it offers students the unique opportunity to earn a high school diploma while simultaneously accumulating up to 60 hours of college credit—essentially an associate degree—at no cost to the student or their family. The curriculum is rooted in a STEM-focused (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) framework, preparing students for the rigors of modern workforce demands and advanced academic pursuits in technical fields.

By operating directly on the Palo Alto College campus, the school immerses students in a true collegiate environment from their freshman year. This model fosters a culture of independence and professional maturity, as students navigate both high school coursework and college-level expectations alongside traditional college students. The program is specifically designed to support first-generation college students and those who are historically underrepresented in higher education, providing them with the necessary mentorship, academic scaffolding, and resources to successfully transition into four-year universities or high-demand STEM careers upon graduation.
