School Overview
Hennepin Gateway to College (HGTC) is an innovative dual-enrollment program operated by Intermediate District 287, specifically designed for students who are at risk of not graduating from high school. Located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, the program provides students with the opportunity to complete their high school diploma while simultaneously earning college credits on a college campus. By blending high school curriculum with actual college coursework, HGTC aims to help students who may have struggled in traditional high school settings regain momentum, increase their academic confidence, and get a head start on their post-secondary education.
The program serves as a bridge for students to transition into higher education in a supportive, personalized environment. Because it is part of District 287—a collaborative district that serves several suburban school districts in the west metropolitan area—HGTC emphasizes a holistic approach to student success, often providing smaller class sizes and dedicated advising. The goal is to remove barriers to graduation, foster professional and academic maturity, and ensure that students leave with both a recognized credential and a clearer pathway toward their future career or college goals.
