Bluegrass Challenge Academy

The **Bluegrass Challenge Academy (BCA)**, located at Fort Knox, Kentucky, is a tuition-free, residential program designed to help at-risk youth reclaim their education and build a successful future. Operated by the Kentucky National Guard, the program targets 16- to 18-year-old high school dropouts or those at risk of dropping out, providing a structured, military-style environment. The curriculum focuses on eight core components, including academic excellence, physical fitness, leadership, job skills, and responsible citizenship, all aimed at helping students earn their GED or recover high school credits while fostering personal discipline.

The Academy operates on a unique 22-week "residential phase" followed by a 12-month "post-residential phase." During the residential portion, cadets live on-site and follow a rigorous schedule that emphasizes teamwork, character development, and personal accountability. After graduation, participants are paired with adult mentors in their home communities to help them transition into the workforce, higher education, or military service. By combining academic support with intensive life-skills training, the Bluegrass Challenge Academy serves as an intervention program dedicated to transforming the lives of young people and guiding them toward long-term professional and personal success.
