S.F. INTERNATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

S.F. International High is a Title I public high school that is part of the San Francisco Unified school district, located in San Francisco, CA with about 325 students offering grade levels from 9th Grade to 12th Grade. A Title I school provides supplemental financial assistance to school districts for children from low-income families. Its purpose is to provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education. With about 22 teachers, S.F. International High has a student/teacher ratio of about 14:1. The national average for public schools is about 15:1. A lower student/teacher ratio is a key factor that determines how much a teacher can devote his/her time to each individual student thus improving, or reducing (in the event of a higher student/teacher ratio) the attention each student is given for their educational needs.

San Francisco International High School (SFIHS), located at 1050 York Street in the Mission District, is a specialized public high school within the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) designed specifically for recent immigrants. The school serves students who have been in the United States for fewer than four years and are still in the process of acquiring English proficiency. By fostering a multilingual and multicultural learning environment, the school aims to provide a supportive transition for students as they navigate both academic development and their new lives in the U.S.

The school is distinguished by its commitment to "deeper learning" and project-based instruction, which allows students to develop critical thinking skills while building language fluency. Because the student body represents a vast array of countries and linguistic backgrounds, SFIHS places a heavy emphasis on community and social-emotional support. Through collaborative classroom projects, internship opportunities, and a personalized approach to mentorship, the school prepares its students for success in college and beyond while celebrating the unique global perspectives they bring to the San Francisco community.
