School Overview
West-MEC (Western Maricopa Education Center) at Ironwood High School is a satellite campus program that provides specialized Career and Technical Education (CTE) to students in the Glendale area. By partnering with the existing high school infrastructure, West-MEC offers students the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications and college credit while simultaneously completing their high school diploma. These programs are designed to provide hands-on, real-world experience in high-demand career fields, helping students bridge the gap between classroom instruction and professional workforce readiness.
The curriculum at this location is focused on technical skill development and career exploration, catering to students who want a jump-start on their professional lives before graduating. By integrating these specialized courses into the traditional high school schedule, West-MEC allows students to access advanced training and equipment that might not be available in standard classrooms. The ultimate goal of this partnership is to produce highly skilled, competitive graduates who are prepared to either enter the workforce immediately or pursue advanced degrees in their chosen industries.
